Lucky 13: Super Heavy Flies Clean, Ship Makes Its Softest Splashdown Ever

Starship's thirteenth flight got off the ground on 24 July after a week of delays, and it was worth the wait. Booster 20 lit all 33 Raptors, aced the flip and boostback that doomed Booster 19 on Flight 12, and made a "sort of" controlled splashdown offshore. Ship 40 flew clean to the Indian Ocean, reignited an engine in space, and executed its softest splashdown yet. Along the way it deployed 20 real Starlink V3 satellites, the first live payload the program has ever carried.

It's Time to Go! FAA Advisory Points to July 14 for Starship's Next Test Flight

SpaceX is targeting July 14 for Starship Flight 13, according to an FAA advisory. Liftoff set for 5:45 PM CDT (Starbase local time) / 22:45 UTC from Pad 2. The flight pairs a new Booster 20 with a new Ship 40, both flying for the first time, following a grounding triggered by a Super Heavy engine failure on Flight 12. Static fire testing on both vehicles is complete, with only final license sign-off standing between Starship and its next flight.

Starbase Gigabay Nears the Finish Line as Steel Gives Way to Cladding

A colossus keeps rising at Starbase. On the ground once occupied by the old High Bay and the STARGATE building, SpaceX is stacking steel to create one of the largest industrial structures on Earth. The Gigabay will offer 116 meters of vertical integration space. This is where the next generation of Starships and Super Heavy Boosters will be assembled in the future. With the main frame topped out and cladding climbing the walls, the December 2026 deadline is looking less like a target and more like a promise.

Ship 41 Rolls Out for more Testing at Massey's

SpaceX has rolled Ship 41 out to Massey's test site again, clearing the way for static fires and stacking. The Block 3 Starship prototype could become the first upper stage caught by the tower if Flight 13 succeeds, setting up its own flight on Starship Flight 14 alongside Booster 21. The rollout comes just days after sister ship Ship 40 returned to the factory.
